Our Mission
Literacy for Lemoore, Water for the World
Literacy For Lemoore
Our Club Supports Increasing Literacy Rates
Kings County has one of the poorest literacy rates in California. Our Rotarians recognize this problem, taking actionable steps to address it.
We give every third (3rd) grader in the Lemoore area A Student’s Dictionary, free of charge, for them to keep and utilize throughout their educational career.
We teach students how to use a dictionary, and all the other useful resources it contains, such as a Periodic Table of Elements, Mini Atlas, and U.S. President Biographies.
We participate in Reach Out and Read and donate new children’s books to local pediatrician’s offices.
We participate in Read Across America, reading to elementary school age children every year in all Lemoore area schools, public and private, donating the books we read to their school libraries.
We are passionate and committed to promoting literacy for people of all ages, with a focus on childhood literacy, to address the issue head on, and the unique challenges in Kings County.
Water For The World
Our Club Supports Access To Clean Drinking Water
Water insecurity continues to increase around the world, with the issue being more pervasive in regions with political instability, extreme weather, and limited infrastructure.
Our Rotarians regularly cooperate with other Rotary Clubs to go on international missions to Central America and South America to deliver and assemble water sanitation stations for locals to have a clean, safe, and reliable source of drinking water.
These stations are designed to easily maintained so locals who receive these services can maintain them when we are no longer in the country, promoting self-sufficiency and teaching technical knowledge.
Currently, the Rotary Club of Lemoore partners on water projects in Ecuador.
