Polio Plus/End Polio Now
Polio, or poliomyelitis, is a paralyzing and potentially deadly infectious disease that most commonly affects children under the age of 5. The virus spreads from person to person, typically through contaminated water. It can then attack the nervous system. Rotary has been working to eradicate polio for more than 35 years, with Our Club there every step of the way. Rotary’s goal of eradicating polio is closer than ever. Our Club is ending polio by raising money and contributing to Rotary End Polio missions and events, such as World Polio Day!
Fighting Disease
Rotary members combat diseases like malaria, HIV/AIDS, Alzheimer’s, multiple sclerosis, diabetes, and polio. Prevention is important, which is why Rotary also focuses on health education and bringing people routine hearing, vision, and dental care. Our Club fights disease by supporting international Rotary missions and efforts to provide healthcare, testing, and vaccinations to those who need access most. We promote awareness and take actionable steps to bring healthcare to those who need it most, closing the gap in equitable access.
Promoting Peace
As a humanitarian organization, peace is a cornerstone of Rotary’s mission. Our Club promotes peace by fostering relationships, participating in peace missions, and supporting refugees and survivors of conflict.
Disaster Response
Lemoore Rotarians work to make lives better throughout the world. When Manabi Ecuador suffered massive destruction and death from a 7.8 earthquake (2016), Lemoore Rotarians were there to offer rescue, humanitarian needs and install a safe water system.
